چکیده

The pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering lengths are studied in the QCD sum rule. We show that the leading and next-to-leading order terms of the OPE give rise to the Tomozawa-Weinberg and sigma terms, respectively. We also show that in the kaon-nucleon system the Λ(1405) contribution has to be subtracted from the OPE side in order to obtain the scattering length. The odd components of the T-matrices are in agreement with the experimental values not only in the pion-nucleon channel but also in the kaon-nucleon channel after the Λ(1405) contribution subtracted. The even components disagree with the experimental values in the pion-nucleon channel, which is similar to the situation in the PCAC-plus-current-algebra approach at the Weinberg point. We speculate that this discrepancy should be explained by the continuum contribution in the spectral function above the pion-nucleon threshold.

Hyperon-nucleon coupling from QCD sum rules

In understanding the dynamics of kaon-nucleon scattering or the strangeness content of the nucleon using hadronic models, it is important to know the hadronic coupling constants involving the kaons. Among them, gNKΛ and gNKΣ are the most relevant coupling constants. To determine these couplings using the QCD sum rules [1] one can follow two different approaches: a) the two-point function, where...

The Pion-Nucleon Coupling Constant in QCD Sum Rules

The pion-nucleon coupling constant gπN is studied on the basis of the QCD sum rules. Both the Borel sum rules and the finite energy sum rules for gπN are used to examine the effects of higher dimensional operators (up to dim. 7) and αs corrections in the operator product expansion. Agreement with the experimental number is reached only when Sπ/SN is greater than one, where Sπ (SN ) is the conti...

Chiral corrections to kaon-nucleon scattering lengths

We calculate the threshold T-matrices of kaon-nucleon and antikaon-nucleon scattering to one loop order in SU(3) heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. To that order the complex-valued isospin-1 KN threshold T-matrix can be successfully predicted from the isospin-0 and 1 KN threshold T-matrices. As expected perturbation theory fails to explain the isospin-0 KN threshold T-matrix which is comp...

Comment on "Nucleon-nucleon scattering lengths in QCD sum rules"

In a recent Letter [1], Kondo and Morimatsu present a QCD sum rule calculation of nucleon-nucleon scattering lengths. They also relate the empirical scattering lengths to the nucleon mass shift δM in nuclear matter to cast doubt on the " linear density approximation. " In this Comment, we point out flaws in both parts of their analysis. It is useful to start with the (nonrelativistic) optical p...

Relativistic chiral SU ( 3 ) symmetry , large N c sum rules and meson - baryon scattering

The relativistic chiral SU (3) Lagrangian is used to describe kaon-nucleon scattering imposing constraints from the pion-nucleon sector and the axial-vector coupling constants of the baryon octet states. We solve the covariant coupled-channel Bethe-Salpeter equation with the interaction kernel truncated at chiral order Q 3 where we include only those terms which are leading in the large N c lim...
